Project Background:
Modified for proprietary content. This course was created to show end users how to enter resident diagnosis codes into the resident's chart or electronic health record for correct care and claims reimbursement. I worked with a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to identify the topics and performance objectives of the course.
Constraints:
Evaluating the effectiveness of this course has it's limits because there is no way to track user access and completion of the courses at this time. For that reason, assessment tests are not included and restrictions on viewing content in a particular order or all content are not used.
My Role:
Give the end user what they need when they need it. I incorporated Adult learning principles by giving users a choice in viewing all or some of the content. Users have a choice in viewing demonstrations and or practice opportunities.Content is presented in a logical order based on real life workflows.
Results:
This 10 minute course focused on the "must do" tasks and referred end users to additional resources for "learn on need" tasks for more detail such as user manuals and online help. Technical review by the SME ensured content was valid as it was being created. Level 1 Reaction level results have been positive and data is used for identifying clients willing to participate in focus groups and course improvement.
